TORONTO TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATIONS

As noted in our pre-registration form, we have secured a special reduced airfare for attendees at the World Congress/ISSS 2000 meeting. (Air Canada has partnership arrangements with several other airlines.) You may also wish to take advantage of the lower fares for Saturday night stays. A large block of rooms will be available on campus for Saturday, July 22nd. However, overnight stays on Saturday, July 15th cannot be reserved now due to an overlap with a preceding conference. Ryerson Conference Services will notify those who request Saturday, July 15th on their registration forms, if/when room blocks are released by the prior conference organizers.

Ground transportation buses from the Toronto Airport to the conference site and nearby hotels can be arranged with “Airport Express”. The cost is about $12 CDN one-way ($22 round-trip) and tickets can be purchased at the “Ground Transportation Desk” outside the “S Level” at the Airport.

The bus will take you to the Delta Chelsea Hotel (a one-block walk from the campus). You may transfer to a connecting shuttle van there to a drop-off point near the student residence (Pittman Hall) and the International Conference Center, as well as other nearby hotels (see map).

If you wish to go directly to the conference registration desks from the Delta Chelsea, you can walk. Proceed along Gerrard Street, and cross Yonge Street. The second building on the right is Jorgensen Hall. Take the walking path heading south to the entrance to 380 Victoria Street. Registration will be on the second floor, Room A-250 (see map). Registration (and information) hours will be: Sunday: 12:00 noon to 6:30 pm, Monday: 7:30 am - 12:00 noon, Tuesday-Friday: 8:00 am - 12:00 noon.

Please note that the welcoming reception and concert on Sunday evening will also be in Room A-250. During the week, the coffee/snack service, book displays and poster displays will also be held in this or immediately adjacent areas.

On-campus housing is available in two categories: (1) Attractive single rooms with shared baths in the student residence (Pittman Hall); (2) Hotel-style accommodations with private baths at the International Conference Center (ICC) (also called International Learning/Living Center).

Photographs/descriptions of these accommodations can be found on Ryerson’s website: www.Ryerson.ca/conference

On-campus room accommodations will be in great demand and must be prepaid to be secured. Although we are collecting reservations and fees for room accommodations as a service to attendees, Ryerson University Conference Services is responsible for providing these accommodations. If any changes or cancellations are required, these must be arranged through Ryerson. Please note that Ryerson has a 72-hour non-refundable cancellation policy. Conference Services: 1-416-979-5000, ext. 7649.

Also please note that, if you desire accommodations Saturday, July 15th, please circle this date on the pre-registration form and you will be notified as soon as possible if this can be arranged. Do not prepay.

Check-in times at both locations are after 4:00 pm. 24-hour arrival service is possible. Front desk telephone numbers are: Pittman Hall: 1-416-979-5296; ICC: 1-416-979-5000, ext. 5301. On-campus parking can be arranged at the Pittman or ICC front desks.
